NATIONAL TRAILS DAY

Discover, enjoy, and care for Acadia's magnificent 130-mile trail system, accompanied by park trail crew and interpretive staff members.
Option 1: Mount Desert Island
Meet at 8 a.m. at the Acadia National Park Trails Shop at park headquarters on Eagle Lake Road. Following an open house with the trail crew, choose from one of these activities:
• Hike the Canada Cliffs trail with the Acadia National Park trail crew (challenging)
• Hike Beech Mountain with Acadia National Park interpretive staff members (moderate)
• Hike Compass Harbor with Acadia National Park interpretive staff members (easy)
• Volunteer on a trail or carriage road project (experienced trail volunteers and novices welcome)
Option 2: Schoodic
Meet at Frazer Point at 10:00 a.m. for a light breakfast social, followed by volunteer projects on three Schoodic Head trails: East Trail, Alder Trail, and Sun Dew Trail.
Please bring water, insect repellant, and weather-appropriate clothing...and consider carpooling!
National Trails Day is an annual event that celebrates Acadia National Park's historic trails and carriage roads. In 2009, 100 people attended the day's activities.

National Trails Day is an Acadia Quest eligible event.
Acadia Quest is a series of outdoor youth- and family-oriented experiences in Acadia National Park that encourage young people and their families to explore, learn about, and protect national parks and other conserved lands.
