Salmon Pen Proposal for Frenchman Bay Dealt a Major Blow
The Maine State Department of Marine Resources (DMR) terminated American Aquafarms’ lease application for two 60-acre salmon pens because the company failed to select a proper source for its fish eggs.
The company can still submit an entirely new application, but a restart would likely tack on several years to the permitting process.
Friends of Acadia Names Eric Stiles its next President & CEO
After conducting an extensive national search, Friends of Acadia has chosen conservation leader Eric Stiles as its next President & CEO. Stiles succeeds David MacDonald who stepped down last month after a decade in the role.
