Exceptional Rainstorm Heavily Damages Carriage Roads

The storm early on June 9 dumped about 5 inches of rain on the park in the space of a few hours, and washed out 10 miles of the popular 45-mile carriage road system. It could take up to two months for the National Park Service to stabilize and repair Acadia National Park’s historic carriage road system after about 10 miles of it were heavily damaged during a torrential rainstorm last week.
