Help Preserve and Protect Acadia with the Gift of Time

A lot of good can get done on a Saturday morning!

Acadia National Park was created by the individual efforts of people who loved this place and were motivated to care for it. Today, you can be a part of this legacy by volunteering in the park with Friends of Acadia.

Whether you volunteer for a few hours, a few months, or year after year, you’ll see a new side of Acadia, feel a deeper connection to the park, and leave this national treasure a little better than you found it.

Our signature volunteer events – Earth Day Roadside Cleanup in April and Take Pride in Acadia Day in November – have become an annual sign of the season, as essential as the first robin of spring or the first skim of ice on Acadia’s ponds each fall.

Many hundreds of volunteers contribute thousands of hours through the year on essential projects. Together, they make a real and lasting difference for Acadia National Park. There are many ways to put your skills and interests to work for the park.

Volunteers with Friends of Acadia and other area organization got a well-deserved nod in the Ellsworth American: “Volunteers are hugely important to FOA’s mission”

Stewardship Volunteers

Volunteers are needed on Acadia’s trails and carriage roads. Come for a morning, a season, or a lifetime! All are welcome & no experience is necessary. It’s not only important… it’s fun!

Acadia Winter Trails Association

The crushed-stone surfaces of Acadia’s carriage roads make them ideal for cross country skiing in the wintertime. Add the park’s spectacular scenery and trail grooming by the volunteers of the Acadia Winter Trails Association, and it is no wonder that skiing is a highlight of the season for many area residents and winter visitors.
