Job Opening: Temporary Development Assistant

Location: Friends of Acadia office, Bar Harbor, Maine
Reporting To: Development Coordinator
Job Status: Part-time (4-8 hours per week)

Friends of Acadia seeks a Temporary part-time Development Assistant starting in May 2024 to work with the development staff in an array of administrative duties, including data entry and support for gift processing, events, and other administrative needs. This position will report to the Development Coordinator and is anticipated to work through September of 2024.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research returned mail and update database records as needed.
  • Assist with events, including name tags, mailings, and post-event data entry.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as collating, printing, scanning, copying, stuffing, and mailing letters, postcards, and invitations; using postage meter for letters and packages as needed.
  • Work as a team member on other duties as assigned.

This position may also assist with:

  • Donor stewardship, such as making thank you calls and writing notes
  • Filing (physical and digital)

The above responsibilities will require a motivated individual to bring a combination of the following:

  • MS Suite/MS365 (Excel, Word–mail merging skills preferable, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
  • Data-entry/Database experience (preferably Raiser’s Edge/NXT, but will train)
  • Strong organizational and administrative/office skills
  • Good time management skills and ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Openness to ask questions when clarity is needed
  • Research and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to sit for several hours at a computer, ability to lift 20 pounds
  • Sound judgment and ability to handle confidential information professionally
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, sense of humor, and ability to work well under pressure
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Administrative office experience desired
  • The Development Assistant is an in-person, hourly, part-time, temporary position, working 4-8 hours per week. Generally, the incumbent will work in 4-hour shifts. The position will work closely with the FOA Development staff.
