Job Opening: Vice President of Finance & Administration and Chief Financial Officer

JOB STATUS: Full-time, 40 hours per week

This leadership position works closely with the CEO and the Board of Directors through policy and committee work and collaborates with staff across all departments. This position oversees financial management, information technology, risk management, office and facilities management, and construction project management. This position works with the CEO and Board to help guide the overall direction of Friends of Acadia.

This position is responsible for long-term financial planning, preparing the annual operating budget, projecting near, and long-term cash flow needs, working with our external auditors to ensure a fair and accurate representation of our financial position and to prepare and file IRS Form 990. The position also has administrative oversight of $80 million in invested funds.

Other core functions include managing information technology, and ensuring information technology practices and protections are in place to protect against cyber-crime, analyzing and approving all contracts. The CFO serves as a member of the Friends of Acadia staff management team and fosters strong communication and collaboration across departments to help build an effective organization and positive work environment.

Collaboration and development of key external relationships is also expected of the incumbent. Living in one of the immediate or surrounding Acadia NPS communities is necessary for the incumbent to support the FOA relationships.

This position is responsible for serving as the principal staff support for the Friends of Acadia Investment Committee, Finance Committee, and Audit Committee. Additionally, this position prepares quarterly and annual financial statements and presents this information to the committees and the board. The CFO also provides support to program and development staff to ensure timely, accurate and useful reporting to funders, foundations, and partners.

The CFO supervises the Accounting Manager, the Operations Manager & Systems Administrator, and will provide back-up if necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business and at least five years of successful work experience as a Chief Financial Officer
  • 5-10 years of successful experience leading and managing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Boards, Board Committees, and investment of organizational resources.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented, and highly collaborative environment.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The position will require some evening and weekend hours to support organizational activities.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge and proficiency with Raiser’s Edge, Financial Edge and the Microsoft Office Suite.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA preferred
  • IT Operations Management experience preferred
  • Experience with commercial construction project management desired
