Friends of Acadia Names Lisa Horsch Clark Vice President of Gift Planning

Lisa Horsch Clark is Friends of Acadia’s first vice president of gift planning.

BAR HARBOR, ME — Friends of Acadia has named Lisa Horsch Clark as its first vice president of gift planning, recognizing her leadership in building the organization’s planned giving program and positioning it to support Acadia National Park for generations to come.

In this new role, Horsch Clark will lead the continued growth of Friends of Acadia’s planned giving efforts, including the George B. Dorr Society, which honors supporters who have made a legacy commitment to Acadia. Planned gifts provide long-term, sustaining funding that helps ensure the park’s trails, carriage roads, wildlife habitats, and historic landscapes are protected well into the future.

“Planned giving is about love for this place and a belief in its future,” said Horsch Clark. “I’m incredibly honored to step into this newly created role and to build on the generosity and vision of our supporters. The George B. Dorr Society reflects a deep commitment to Acadia, and I’m excited to help more people discover how their legacy can make a lasting difference for the park they care about so deeply.”

In her more than 20 years with Friends of Acadia, Horsch Clark has cultivated trusted relationships with members and donors and built a robust planned giving program that continues to grow in both participation and impact. “What I love about the George B. Dorr Society,” Horsch Clark continued, “is that every gift—no matter the size or the way it’s given—is welcomed, appreciated, and helps fund our conservation grants.” These important gifts have enabled high-visibility projects such as trail and carriage road restoration, resource protection, historic preservation work, and the purchase of the Kingsleigh Inn and Jordan River Road housing complexes to support accessible housing for seasonal staff working within the park.

“Planned giving helps ensure a strong and sustainable future for Friends of Acadia and Acadia National Park,” said Eric Stiles, president and CEO of Friends of Acadia. “These gifts allow us to think beyond today’s challenges and invest thoughtfully in the park’s long-term health and resilience.

“Lisa understands this organization, our mission, Acadia National Park, and our communities in a way few people do,” Stiles continued. “She has built an outstanding program that enables supporters to create a lasting legacy for Acadia, and I am proud to recognize the impact and strategic importance of her work through this new position.”

Devin Lueddeke, who has served as Friends of Acadia’s development officer for major gifts for the past three years, has been named interim vice president of development as the organization conducts a nationwide search for the role.

Friends of Acadia is the nonprofit philanthropic partner of Acadia National Park, working to protect, preserve and enhance the park for present and future generations. Planned giving is one of the most powerful ways supporters can help sustain that mission over the long term.
