We are overjoyed to announce that we have reached our ambitious goal for the Raise the Roof campaign!
Friends of Acadia’s Raise the Roof campaign raised $10 million to address the severe seasonal employee housing shortage at Acadia National Park.
Goal: $10 million
Total Raised: $10 million!
Thanks to All Who Helped Us Raise the Roof
Your incredible generosity will enable us to build workforce housing campuses at Dane Farm and Harden Farm, providing over 60 new beds for Acadia’s seasonal workforce.
We received a total of 321 gifts, ranging from $8 to $1,500,000. The $1 million Davis Challenge inspired 178 gifts, many from first-time campaign donors. This campaign also attracted interest from prominent businesses who saw this opportunity as a way to give back to the park. We are immensely proud of these results, but even more excited about what they will create: much-needed housing for Acadia’s workforce for generations to come.
While we have achieved our goal for this campaign, our efforts to ensure that Acadia has the people they need to support the park will continue.
Online security is our top priority. We have recently upgraded our online donation pages with a new security protocol. If you experience technical difficulties accessing donation pages, you may need to update your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.) and/or your device’s operating system to ensure all donations/payments are processed safely and securely. Thank you for your patience. Donations can also be made by calling 207-288-3340.
The Challenge
About 30% of Acadia National Park’s seasonal positions have gone unfilled recently due to lack of workforce housing.
In 2023, only 8 of 36 seasonal positions on the trails and carriage roads were filled!

Seasonal employees are essential to operating the park and providing visitor services from April through October. That’s why Friends of Acadia has stepped up to help tackle the housing crisis head on.
