Friends of Acadia’s Raise the Roof campaign is raising $10 million to address the severe seasonal employee housing shortage at Acadia National Park.
Goal: $10 million
Total Raised So Far: $9.1 million
Help Us Raise the Roof: Match to a Million.
We’re well on our way toward reaching our $10 million goal for seasonal workforce housing at Acadia National Park! To help us take another big leap toward this monumental effort, Kate and Andrew Davis have generously offered to match all donations until we hit $1 million. This Davis Challenge encourages new donors to take part – whether it’s a gift of $50 or $50,000. All gifts under $100,000 will be matched dollar for dollar!
Online security is our top priority. We have recently upgraded our online donation pages with a new security protocol. If you experience technical difficulties accessing donation pages, you may need to update your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.) and/or your device’s operating system to ensure all donations/payments are processed safely and securely. Thank you for your patience. Donations can also be made by calling 207-288-3340.
The Challenge
About 30% of Acadia National Park’s seasonal positions have gone unfilled recently due to lack of workforce housing.
In 2023, only 8 of 36 seasonal positions on the trails and carriage roads were filled!

Seasonal employees are essential to operating the park and providing visitor services from April through October. That’s why Friends of Acadia has stepped up to help tackle the housing crisis head on.
